IRCON Manager Electrical 2026: 37 Contract Posts

IRCON's advertisement C-12/2026 invites applications for 37 Manager/Electrical positions on contract for its Northeast Frontier Railway projects. The route is a walk-in interview, not a newly invented online application deadline. The notice is dated October 23, 2026 and should be read with any later corrigendum.

The initial appointment is for 18 months subject to satisfactory performance and the contract is linked to the project; the notice describes possible extension under its conditions, not guaranteed long-term employment.
What qualification and experience are required?
The main eligibility table requires a full-time bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 60% marks or equivalent grade from a recognized AICTE/UGC-approved university or institute. It lists at least five years of relevant post-qualification experience in the named electrical work areas. Teaching, training, consultancy and freelancing are expressly excluded as relevant experience. The maximum age is 50 years, with government-rule relaxations under the notice. Qualification, age and experience in the main table are measured as on October 1, 2026.

Kolkata: IRCON Eastern Region, 378 Prantik Pally, Kasba, near 47B Bus Stand, Kolkata 700107. Guwahati: House No.06, second floor, opposite Koyel Hotel, Vivekanand Path, Ulubari, Guwahati 781007. What documents should you prepare?
Use the application format attached to the notice. Bring the original documents and one photocopy set specified there, including age proof, degree and all relevant marksheets, category/relaxation documents where applicable and chronological experience evidence. For present employment, the notice says an offer letter alone is not sufficient and asks for the last two months' salary slips. Read the exact certification requirements for your category; a summary cannot replace them.
Contract terms and benefits
- No allowances over and above the fixed pay; no other perks except those listed in the notice.
- Health insurance: the employee takes a ₹3 lakh policy for self; premium up to ₹4,000 a year is reimbursed on proof.
- PF: minimum PF under the EPF & MP Act is deducted, with a matching IRCON contribution.
- Leave: one day per calendar month of service, can be accumulated, no encashment. One weekly off plus project holidays.
- TA/DA is admissible only when deputed on outstation duty.
- Former IRCON contract employees whose services ended due to project closure may apply, with a copy of the termination letter.
How to attend the walk-in: step by step
- Check every condition in the eligibility table against your own documents as on 1 October 2026.
- Type the application on A4 paper in the format attached to the notice and paste a self-attested passport photograph.
- Fill the experience annexure in date order, with a copy of each experience certificate or proof of joining and relieving.
- Arrange one photocopy set plus all originals (list below).
- Reach the venue between 9:30 AM and 1:00 PM on your chosen date. Plan for more than one day: the notice says the process may take longer depending on numbers.
- Watch IRCON's Contract Employment page for any corrigendum before travelling.
Documents checklist
- Typed application in the prescribed format
- Experience certificates in chronological order; for a present job, the last two months' salary slips as well
- Date-of-birth proof / Class X certificate
- Caste/EWS/age-relaxation certificate in GOI format (OBC certificate issued in the current financial year)
- Degree and all semester/year marksheets
Percentage and CGPA rules
Write your percentage without rounding off. If the university does not convert CGPA to percentage, the notice treats 6 on a 10-point scale as 60%, prorated for other scales. If the university provides a conversion, use it and carry a certificate from the university.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Rounding 59.6% up to 60%.
- Counting teaching, training, consultancy or freelancing as relevant experience.
- Bringing only an offer letter for a current job.
- Arriving after 1:00 PM; the notice says no change of date, time or venue will be entertained.
Is there a source inconsistency to know about?
Yes. The main table uses October 1, 2026, but the attached experience annexure still carries an old August 1, 2021 heading. This guide does not turn that old form heading into the eligibility cutoff. Seek clarification from IRCON if it affects how you complete the annexure. The notice says updates and corrigenda will be posted on IRCON's website. Do not rely on an aggregator's generic "apply by" date instead of the actual interview schedule.
Official notice check (30 Oct 2026): the same annexure also shows “Work Experience as on 01-10-2026” at item 14, which matches the main table.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a November 23 online deadline?
The notice describes walk-in interviews. November 23 is the listed Guwahati interview date, not a general online closing date.
Are all experienced engineers eligible?
No. Degree, marks, age and the specified relevant experience must all meet the notice; personal eligibility is not assessed here.
Is there an application fee?
The notice does not mention one.
Can I choose Kolkata or Guwahati?
The notice lists both venues and dates and states no rule allotting candidates to a venue. If unsure, ask recruitment@ircon.org, the query address given in the notice.
Is this a permanent IRCON job?
No. It is an 18-month contract, extendable by one year, and co-terminus with the project.
